HUMBLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team finished in seventh place at the All-American Intercollegiate, hosted by Rice University and the University of Houston, on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Houston.
 
The Vaqueros posted a final round 304 to finish with a three-round score of 881. UTRGV finished ahead of Sam Houston, Texas State, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, Penn, North Texas, UTSA, and Yale.
 
Junior Arthit Kruaprayong led the way for UTRGV as he finished tied for 12^th. Kruaprayong posted a final round 76 for a three-round score of 216. Sophomore Mcallen Memorial alum Esteban Gonzalez finished tied for 21^st with a three-round score of 219 after posting a final round 76. 
 
Junior Luis Limón finshed tied for 35^th with a three-round score of 221 after carding a final round 75. Redshirt senior Taj Sutherland and sophomore Emilio Gil Leyva both finished tied for 66^th with three-round scores of 232. Sutherland posted a final round 81 while Gil Leyva carded a final round 77. 
 
Senior Juan Luis de Bethencourt Duque, who played in the individual tournament, finished in 14^th with a three-round score of 226 after posting a final round one-over par 73. Senior Carlos Roldos, who also competed in the individual tournament, finished in 37^th with a three-round score of 242 after a final round 84. 
 
Houston won the team championship with a three-round score of 844 after a final round 289. Troy's Jake Springer won the individual title with a three-round score of 209. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action from March 31-April 1 when they compete at the Maridoe Intercollegiate at Maridoe Golf Course.
