RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) announced on Friday expanded free parking options for the inaugural football season.
 
UTRGV is offering two new free parking lots this season:

• Gray Lot – Now Open: Located on Texas Rd. approximately 350 feet east of Doolittle Rd., the Gray Lot has capacity for about 1,000 vehicles.
• Orange Lot – Opening Later This Season: Located at the south end of Doolittle Rd. near the northeast corner of the H-E-B Tailgate Zone, the Orange Lot has capacity for approximately 2,000 vehicles.

 
UTRGV is offering enhanced park & ride services for the inaugural Vaqueros football game on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium.
 
UTRGV is offering free shuttle service from multiple locations:

• Edinburg Campus
  • To compensate for the orange lot not yet being open, multiple parking lots on the Edinburg campus, including lots E9, E10, E11, E28, E29, E31, and E32, will be available for free parking on Aug. 30 with pickup locations on Van Week St. A map of available lots can be found at RallyTheValley.com.
  • Service begins 15 minutes before tailgating, which for this game is 1:45 p.m., and continues every 20 minutes.
• Lot B4 (Brownsville)
  • Shuttle service begins 1.5 hours before tailgating, which is 12:30 p.m. for this game.
  • Riders must confirm attendance by 8 p.m. the Friday before each home game by clicking here.
• Edinburg Community Engagement & Student Success Building (ECESS)
  • Located at 1407 E. Freddy Gonzalez Dr.
  • Being used exclusively as an ADA lot with handicap tags or license plates required.
  • ADA bus service begins 15 minutes before tailgating, which for this game is 1:45 p.m., and runs every 20 minutes.
  • Last departure from the stadium is one hour after the game ends.

 
Additional Transportation Options

• Edinburg Municipal Park – Free general and ADA parking with golf cart service available for patrons requiring assistance.
• Ride Share – Rideshare services pickup and drop off in Edinburg Municipal Park.

 
Directions and Access
Parking in the VIP and VAF Stadium Parking Lots are sold out and a limited number of North and South Tailgate Lot spots remain available for purchase. Fans that have VIP and VAF Stadium Parking Lot and North and South Tailgate Lot spaces are encouraged to use Freddy Gonzalez Dr. and Canton Rd., accessible via exits 5 and 4 on I-69C/US 281, respectively, to access the lots.
 
Fans wishing to take advantage of free game day parking in the Gray Lot on Aug. 30 and both the Orange and Gray Lots for future games are encouraged to take University Dr. accessible via exit 6 on I-69C/US 281 and turn right on Doolittle Rd. To access the Gray Lot, fans can then turn left on Texas Rd. To access the Orange Lot in the future, fans can continue south as Doolittle Rd. ends at the Orange Lot.
 
Fans wishing to utilize free game day parking at Edinburg Municipal Park are encouraged to use Sprague Rd., accessible via exit 5 on I-69C/US 281, to access the parking lots.
