WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – Freshman Jorge Martin Sampedro shot a seven-under 63 to set the program record for lowest individual single round leading The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team in the final round of the JT Poston Invitational on Tuesday at Waynesville Inn & Country Club. 
 
Sampedro finished with eight birdies, nine pars and just one bogey on the day as his 63 was the best round of the tournament. Sampedro used his final round to climb the standings to finish in second place with a program-record tying three-round score of seven-under 203. 
 
The Vaqueros finished with another golf in the top-five as junior Rodolphe Cicala finished tied for fourth with a three-round score of five-under 205, which is tied for the fifth lowest three-round score in program history, after a final round one-over 71. 
 
Junior Emilio Gil Leyva finished tied for 28^th with a three-round score of 212 after a final round three-under par 67. Junior Esteban Gonzalez and senior Arthit Kruaprayong finished tied for 48^th with three-round scores of 217 as Gonzalez posted a final round 72 and Kruaprayong carding a 71. 
 
Sophomore Gabriel Dulon Villoslada finished tied for 65^th with a three-round score of 219 after his third-straight round of 72. 
 
As a team, UTRGV used a final round 277 to finish tied for fifth place with a three-round score of 840, which is the second lowest three-round team score in program history.
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action from Sept. 29-30 at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic hosted by Rice at Westwood Country Club.
