NACOGDOCHES – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks on Sunday at SFA Soccer Field.
The Vaqueros (3-7-1, 0-3 SLC) and the Lumberjacks (4-2-7, 2-0-2 SLC) played a tight first half as both teams were held scoreless. UTRGV put the pressure on Stephen F. Austin with 10 shots with 2 on goal.
The Lumberjacks countered in the second half by putting the pressure on the Vaqueros as they took six shots in the second half compared to UTRGV's five. In the 59
th minute, a corner kick put the Vaqueros in a bad spot as the kick entered the box.
The Vaqueros attempted to clear it out, but a ricochet landed at the feet of Bryn Geppert, who snuck it into the goal giving Stephen F. Ausitn the 1-0 lead.
The Vaqueros finished the match with 15 shots compared to the Lumberjacks 12 and outshot them on goal 4 to 3.

Emilia Compian made two saves in the match.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Oct. 2 when they visit the Houston Christian University Huskies at 7 p.m.
