Men's Basketball Announces Complete 2025-26 Schedule

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's basketball team announced on Monday their complete schedule for the 2025-26 season, which starts on November 3 at Baylor.

The Vaqueros will play nine non-conference games to go along with their 22 Southland Conference games for a 31-game slate that will lead to the SLC Tournament on March 8-11 in Lake Charles, La.

Basketball season tickets and multi-sport passes can be purchased online at GoUTRGV.com/SeasonTickets or contact Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Sales and Operations Nick Swanson over the phone at (956) 665-4205 or via email at tickets@utrgv.edu to purchase or renew basketball season tickets or multi-sport passes.

"It's a challenging one," UTRGV Head Coach Kahil Fennell said. "When you look at it from the beginning with the non-conference schedule all of the Division I opponents are really high level. There are a lot of really good teams, really well coached teams. It's going to be a real challenge that takes us all over the country, but I think it will prepare us for the conference slate. It's something that I am looking forward to and I think our guys are looking forward to the challenge as well."

Following the game at Baylor, the Vaqueros will have four other non-conference games on the road as they visit Southern Utah on Nov. 8, Boise State on Nov. 11, Missouri State on Nov. 22, and Illinois on Nov. 24.

The Vaqueros get their first home game at the UTRGV Fieldhouse on Nov. 17 when they host Southwestern Adventist while also hosting Austin Peay on Dec. 7, UT Arlington on Dec. 11, College of Biblical Studies on Dec. 20.

The Vaqueros will play their Southland Conference games on Saturdays and Mondays with play beginning in December when the Vaqueros visit Stephen F. Austin on Dec. 3 and Lamar on Dec. 16. Southland Conference play will resume with 20 games starting on Dec. 29 against New Orleans.

"The conference schedule is going to be a bear this year," Fennell said. "Not only are the teams really good, I think the league has improved from top to bottom, but also there is no breaks. It will be 11 weeks of straight two games a week. It's an expansive challenging schedule that takes you all over the place. It will be grueling and arduous, and I think our non-conference will help us prepare for that."
