TULSA, Okla. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's tennis team finished up their Oklahoma road trip with a 4-0 loss at Tulsa Monday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Vaqueros opened up the match with losses on courts one and three in doubles. However, on court two, junior
Paolo Bonaguro and senior
Ivo Isqueiro teamed up to defeat
Timothy Carlsson Seger and
Nikita Volonski 6-4.
Tulsa earned the sweep with wins on courts one, two, and five. However, UTRGV showed good fight on courts three, four, and six.
On court four, junior
Will Roberts dropped the first set quickly, 6-0, before bouncing back and battling in the second, pushing
Connor Doig to a tiebreak with the score at 6-6 before ending unfinished.
On court six, sophomore
Tsz Him Chan went down 6-3 in the first set to
Gus Tettamble before competing in a back-and-forth second set that went unfinished at 4-4.
On court three, junior
Santiago Serrano fell 6-2 in the first to
Reiya Komagata before clawing his was through a second set that ended unfinished at 4-3.
The Vaqueros next match will take place on Friday, Jan. 30 at SMU at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.
