RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday the addition of Isaac Lopez as the Program Specialist for Corporate Partnerships.

Lopez worked for a year as an Administrative Assistant for Ewing Lara & Co. where he managed daily administrative operations, client communications, and financial documentation. He also served as a primary point of contact for clients, maintained organized tracking systems and documentation processes that improve workflow efficiency, and collaborated with team members to coordinate administrative projects.

"What a full circle moment, being able to add Isaac to the staff after his incredible time as a student-athlete for us," Assistant Athletic Director for Corporate Partnerships Darius Maize said. "That's compounded by the fact that he is a product of this very community.  I look forward to playing a part in his professional journey and know that he is going to be a great addition to the team."

Lopez played baseball for UTRGV from 2021-25 and was a member of the 2025 Southland Conference Championship team. Lopez was also named a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award which is awarded to the best shortstop in the country in 2025.

While he was a student-athlete, Lopez was a member of the UTRGV Student-Athlete Advisory Committee where he helped represent the perspectives and served as a liaison between student-athletes and athletic department leadership. Lopez also worked with Capable Kids as a Sports Mentor.

"I am blessed to have an opportunity to work with the people in this department," Lopez said. "I have seen them do many great things for the program from my time as a player. Now, I want to be able to learn from their great leadership and contribute to the growth of this department and the Valley!"

Lopez graduated with his Master of Business Administration with Specialization in International Trade in August 2025 and his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management in August 2024 from UTRGV.
