NORMAL, Ill. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team is ready for a 2026 Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) second round matchup with the Illinois State (ISU) Redbirds Sunday at 1 p.m. at CEFCU Arena in Normal, Illinois.
The Vaqueros (21-13) and Redbirds (20-13) are meeting up for the first time ever. UTRGV is coming off a wire-to-wire first round win at Austin Peay while Illinois State earned a bye and will be playing its first game in eight days since losing in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament. The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the WNIT Super 16 to face the winner of a game between Abilene Christian and FIU.
