RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department on Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Wednesday upcoming football and volleyball summer camps for children that range from a wide variety of ages and experience levels.
 
Football
 
UTRGV Football is hosting three prospect camps for high schoolers entering grades 9-12, prospective student athletes from junior college, and anyone that is inside the transfer portal. The camps will run on June 9 from 9-11 a.m., June 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and June 16 from 9-11 a.m. at the Vaqueros Performance Center (VPC).
 
The prospect camps are led by UTRGV Head Football Coach Travis Bush and the entire UTRGV Football coaching staff. The camps are designed for participants looking to develop their skills and gain exposure in a collegiate setting.
 
Our camps are non-contact and focus on teaching proper technique, fundamentals, and position-specific development. Participants will receive hands-on coaching through agility testing, drill work, and competitive 1-on-1 situations, allowing them to showcase and improve their abilities. The goal is to provide a high-energy, competitive environment where athletes can grow, be evaluated, and better understand what it takes to compete at the next level
 
All camps are held at the VPC, which is the $45 million, 45,000-square foot facility that houses the football program and features state-of-the-art weight training, academic, sports medicine facilities, and one synthetic turf and one natural grass practice field.

Volleyball
 
UTRGV Volleyball is hosting seven camps this summer, which includes, the Little Vaqueros Camp, Middle School Camp, High School Elite Camp, a second Little Vaqueros Camp, Defense Camp, Hitting Camp, and Setting Camp.
 
All camps are led by UTRGV Head Volleyball Coach Todd Lowery and the entire UTRGV Volleyball coaching staff.

Little Vaqueros Camps – UTRGV Fieldhouse – July 14 and 27 – 6-8 p.m.
 
The Little Vaqueros Camps is designed for younger or beginner volleyball players, entering grades 1-5, that are focused on learning the basic skills and having fun. The price to register for the Little Vaqueros Camps is $60.
 
Middle School Camp – UTRGV Fieldhouse – July 15-16 – 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. – Grades 6-8
 
The Middle School Camp is designed for athletes, entering grades 6-8, to improve their overall volleyball skills and will include sessions covering all the fundamentals, including, passing, setting, hitting, and serving. The camp is two days long and will have two sessions per day. The first session will start at 9 a.m. and end at 11 a.m., and the second session will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 3 p.m. The price to register for the Middle School Camp is $175.
 
High School Elite Camp – UTRGV Fieldhouse – July 17-18 – 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. – Grades 6-8
 
The High School Elite Camp is designed for athletes, entering grades 9-12, to improve their overall volleyball skills and will include sessions covering all the fundamentals, including, passing, setting, hitting, and serving. The camp is two days long and will have two sessions per day. The first session will start at 9 a.m. and end at 11 a.m., and the second session will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 3 p.m. The price to register for the High School Elite Camp is $175.
 
Defense Camp – UTRGV Fieldhouse – July 28 – 4-6 p.m. – Grades 6-12
 
The Defense Camp is designed to help athletes, entering grades 6-12, strengthen individual defensive skills and learn new techniques. The price to register for the Defense Camp is $75.
 
Hitting Camp – UTRGV Fieldhouse – July 29 – 4-6 p.m. – Grades 6-12
 
The Hitting Camp is designed to help athletes, entering grades 6-12, strengthen individual hitting skills and learn new techniques. The price to register for the Hitting Camp is $75.
 
Setting Camp – UTRGV Fieldhouse – July 30 – 4-6 p.m. – Grades 6-12
 
The Setting Camp is designed to help athletes, entering grades 6-12, strengthen individual setting skills and learn new techniques. The price to register for the Setting Camp is $75.

In addition to the upcoming summer camps, UTRGV Women's Soccer is hosting a free youth clinic on Saturday at Brownsville Sports Park in Brownsville.
 
Volleyball is also planning to host camps in Brownsville this summer with dates, times, and a specific location expected to be announced at a later date.
