Women’s Soccer Adds Isabel ter Weeme as Assistant Coach

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's soccer program announced on Wednesday the hiring of Isabel ter Weeme as an assistant coach.

ter Weeme brings more than five years of coaching experience to UTRGV and oversees the goalkeepers. She spent the last two seasons at Manhattanville as an assistant coach/goalkeepers coach.

While at Manhattanville, ter Weeme coached the Valiants goalkeepers to 1.36 goals against average (GAA) and 55 total saves during Skyline Conference play at the NCAA Div. III level. The year prior, the Valiants only allowed 1.18 GAA and had 32 total saves.

In 2024, ter Weeme helped Manhattanville qualify for the Skyline Conference tournament after finishing sixth in the conference during the regular season.

"Isabel is an outstanding young coach whose passion for player development, attention to detail, and experience working with goalkeepers make her a tremendous addition to our program," head women's soccer coach Nataki Stewart said. "She brings a growth mindset that aligns with the environment we are building at UTRGV. We're excited to welcome her to the Vaqueros family and look forward to the impact she will have on our student-athletes."

While at Manhattanville, ter Weeme also coached the Harrison Youth Soccer Club in Harrison, N.Y. and was a coach and camp leader at Dutch Soccer School in the Netherlands.

"I'm really excited to join the UTRGV Women's Soccer program and be part of the coaching staff," ter Weeme said. "I want to thank Coach Stewart for giving me this opportunity. I'm looking forward to getting to know the team, working with the goalkeepers, and doing everything I can to help the program continue to grow and succeed. I'm also thankful to my family, friends, and everyone that has supported me along the way."

Prior to joining Manhattanville, ter Weeme played three years of collegiate soccer, competing at both Westcliff and Morningside. In her two seasons at Morningside, ter Weeme played in 25 games, with a career record of 7-3-5.

In 2023, ter Weeme started a career-high 13 matches racking up a 1.64 GAA, two saves per game, and a career-best .612 save percentage. In 2022, ter Weeme started in seven games, allowing 16 goals, picking up 21 saves, and notching a .568 save percentage.

While with Westcliff in 2021, ter Weeme appeared in seven matches earning 32 saves for the Warriors. She also contributed to two shutouts that season.

While competing as a student-athlete, ter Weeme would continue coaching, working with East High School in Sioux City, Iowa, Interstate Soccer Club, and Morningside.

A native of the Netherlands, ter Weeme served as a goalkeeper coach at summer camps in her home country in 2020.

In 2024, ter Weeme graduated with her Bachelor of Business Administration from Morningside. She then earned her Master of Sports Business Management from Manhattanville in May.
