RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the 2026-27 schedule for the Vaqueros men's golf team as they prepare to defend their Southland Conference (SLC) Championship.
 
We put this schedule together to challenge our guys every time we tee it up," UTRGV Director of Golf Houston Moore said. "There is not a whole lot of room to hide on this schedule, and that's the way we want it. We've got to keep getting better every week, learn from the different situations we get put in and grow together as a team. Hopefully, by the time we get to the Southland Conference Championship, we've been through a few battles, we know who we are, and we're ready for whatever gets thrown at us."
 
The Vaqueros start the year with their first trip to North Carolina as they compete in Western Carolina's JT Poston Invitational at Waynesville Golf Club & Inn from Sept. 13-15. Last year, the Vaqueros finished in a tie for fifth place among the 15-team field.
 
UTRGV will then compete at Rice's Bayou City Collegiate at Westwood Golf Club from Sept. 21-22 before heading to the West Bay Collegiate, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast, at West Bay Club from Oct. 6-7.
 
The Vaqueros will wrap up their fall season at the Cedar Ridge Country Club as they compete in The Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts, from Oct. 20-21.
 
UTRGV will look to defend their title at its Compadres Collegiate, hosted at Playa Paraiso Golf Club, in its spring opener from Feb. 7-9. Last year, UTRGV a field that included North Texas, UTSA, Drake, Western Carolina, ULM, Northern Colorado, Morehead State, and Bellarmine.
 
In their second in-state trip, the Vaqueros will head to UTSA's Military City Collegiate which will run from Feb. 21-23 at TPC San Antonio.
 
UTRGV will open March at George Mason's Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club from March 8-10 and perform a quick turnaround for Houston's All-American Intercollegiate, played at Golf Club of Houston, from March 15-16.
 
To wrap up March, the Vaqueros will head to North Texas' Maridoe Collegiate from March 30-31 at Maridoe Golf Club before competing in their final regular season tournament at Chenal Country Club when they head to Little Rock's Everett Buick Classic.
 
UTRGV will then turn its attention to the SLC Championship which will run from April 26-28.
 
The champion will then earn the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals which will be hosted by one of the top six seeds in the NCAA Men's Golf Tournament. The regionals are scheduled to run from May 17-19
 
The NCAA Championships will be held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. from May 28-June 2.
