RIO GRANDE VALLEY – Saturday's season-opening football game between The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros and UT Permian Basin, set to kick off at 7 p.m. at Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium, is now sold out.
UTRGV has sold out eight consecutive home games after selling out all seven in the inaugural season. The Vaqueros ranked 11
th in the FCS in total attendance (87,774), 15
th in average attendance (12,539), and sixth in percentage of capacity (104.49%) in 2025. Due to high demand, UTRGV expanded the south end zone by approximately 1,500 seats prior to the 2026 season, increasing the overall capacity of Vackar Stadium to 13,498 – up from 12,000.
A limited number of single-game tickets were released Monday at 8 a.m. and sold out in one hour. Fans can save and access tickets for entry via Apple or Google Wallet or by logging into your account at
UTRGVTickets.com. All UTRGV football tickets will use NFC scanning, therefore screenshots will not grant entry.
If available, additional tickets that are not claimed by the visiting team and standing room only tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. Friday, the day before the game. Standing room only tickets are $15 each. Fans without tickets for the game are still able to access the H-E-B Tailgate Zone, tailgate lots, and corporate sponsor tailgate area starting at 12 p.m. Saturday.
