Soccer Programs Head to Brownsville For Free Youth Clinic and Exhibition Match Saturday

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's and women's soccer programs are set to host a free youth clinic and exhibition match against Tec de Monterrey Saturday at Sams Memorial Stadium in Brownsville.

The day kicks off with a free youth clinic hosted by the men's soccer team for children between the ages of 5-13 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The clinic is open to players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players, looking to develop their game. Participants will take part in drills led by the men's soccer coaching staff and student-athletes.

"We always love when our program can come together and interact with our community," head men's soccer coach Bryheem Hancock said. "Especially when we get to kick off our fall in the Brownsville area, where we will get the opportunity to help grow the game with the youth."

The women's soccer program will play Tec de Monterrey following the clinic at 6:30 p.m. The exhibition match is free and open to the public.

The festivities on Saturday represent the sixth-straight year that at least one of the soccer programs has hosted an exhibition match in Brownsville.

"I hope every young player leaves inspired to dream big and believe in what's possible," head women's soccer coach Nataki Stewart said. "Seeing college athletics up close can ignite a passion that lasts a lifetime. We want them to enjoy the game, learn from our student-athletes, and see how hard work, dedication, and teamwork can open doors in sports and in life. If they leave believing in themselves a little more, then we've accomplished something special."
