WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team is set to open their fall season at the JT Poston Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina, at Waynesville Inn & Golf Club.  

Tournament Format

• The tournament will be played from Sunday to Tuesday.
• All three days of competition will feature 18 holes of play.
• Play will begin each day with a split-tee start. UTRGV will tee off Sunday on hole 10 at 9 a.m. (CT).

 Golf Course Info

• Waynesville Inn & Golf Club plays 6,735 yards.
  • The front nine is 3,350 yards and the back nine is 3,385 yards.
• The par for the course is 71.

 Making Their Debut   

• The Vaqueros have two freshmen making their debut in the fall opener, Javier Domingo Calvo and Pelayo Fernandez Mortera.
• In his junior career, Domingo Calvo reached 1,877^th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, tallied one win, and recorded 11 top 10 finishes.
• Fernandez Mortera ranked as high as 1,642^nd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking while recording one with and five top 10 finishes in his junior career.
