RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's soccer team is set to play two conference matches this week as they clash against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (AMCC) for a South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union, battle on the road Thursday at 7 p.m. and the Houston Christian University Huskies (HCU) at home on Sunday at 11 a.m.

UTRGV fell at Lamar (LU) (4-1-3) at LU Soccer Complex 1-0, Thursday, Sep. 17.
 
UTRGV fell 1-0 Thursday at the LU Soccer Complex in its Southland Conference (SLC) opener. Lamar's (4-1-3, 0-1 SLC) Kamryn Harvey scored the game-winning goal with just nine seconds remaining, finding the bottom center of the net with her right foot at the 89:48 mark.
 
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – September 24, 7 p.m. - Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track & Field Stadium – Corpus Christi, Texas
 
UTRGV will face AMCC (3-4-2, 0-1 SLC) Thursday at 7 p.m. at Prichett Field.
 
The Vaquero are (8-5-5) all-time against the Islanders. UTRGV is looking for their first win against AMCC since a 2-1 win in 2023.
 
The Islanders lost their first conference matchup to Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, AMCC have lost four straight matches and have not won since a 2-1-win against Our Lady of the Lake on Aug. 30.

Houston Christian – September 27, 11 a.m. - UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex – Edinburg, Texas
 
The Vaqueros will host HCU (4-3-3, 0-0-1 SLC) Sunday at 11 a.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
 
The Vaqueros are (2-0-2) all-time against the Huskies, the last time these two faced off was a 1-0 victory for UTRGV on the road last season. UTRGV has only surrendered one goal to HCU all time in their history, a 1-1 draw.
 
HCU faced off against Nicholls in a 1-1 draw to start SLC play on Thursday.
 
The Huskies went 12-9-2, (4-4-2 SLC) last year and won the 2025 SLC Tournament.

All matches held at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex will be free and open to the public. Gates open at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
