Football Continues to Receive Points in Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros football team continues to receive points in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll released Monday. 
 
UTRGV (1-1) received 12 points, which is 14th-most among the 17 teams receiving points not in the Top 25. Montana State is No. 1 in the poll, receiving 57-of-57 first-place votes. 
 
The Southland Conference (SLC) has four schools, including UTRGV, receiving recognition in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll. Stephen F. Austin and Lamar are ranked 13th and 14th, respectively, while Houston Christian University is receiving points.  
 
UTRGV boasts the No. 1 total offense (548.5 yards/game) and passing offense (324.5 yards/game) in the Southland, ranking eighth and fifth in the nation, respectively. The Vaqueros defense leads the conference in third and fourth-down conversion percentage defense. 
 
UTRGV opens SLC play Saturday at 6 p.m. at Nicholls.
