Kahil Fennell announced on May 22 the hiring of
Cam Clark, who spent last season as an assistant coach at Houston Christian University (HCU), as an assistant coach.
Last season, Clark helped HCU double their win total from the previous season while recording their most conference wins in the last eight seasons. He also helped guide the Huskies to the Southland Conference Tournament for the first time in five seasons and helped develop
Bryce Dawkins into an All-Southland Conference First Team honoree, HCU’s first since 2015.
Clark was an assistant coach at Idaho State during the 2023-24 season, overseeing player development and recruiting, guiding
Brayden Parker and
Maleek Arington to all-conference honors. Clark helped lead the program to the conference tournament semifinals for the first time in 35 years en route to 14 wins, which was their most wins since 2017-18.
Clark spent the 2022-23 season at Salt Lake Community College as an assistant in charge of player development, coaching defense, leading scouts, and recruiting. He helped the program reach the top spot in the national rankings en route to a conference tournament championship, west district championship, and an appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament as the fifth seed.
Clark helped 11 players sign with Division I programs, including
Jaquan Scott, who was ranked the No. 1 junior college player in the country, and
Alejandro Vasquez, a First Team All-Conference honoree.
Clark was an assistant coach at Chaldron State in 2021-22, helping the program to its most wins in three years and guiding three players to all-conference honors.
Clark spent the 2020-21 season at Lamar Community College, helping
Khalil Haywood to First Team All-Region honors and
Kevon Wiggins to Second Team All-Region honors.
Clark started his coaching career at Southwestern College in 2019-20 where he was responsible for player development and helped
Cameron Hunt to NAIA Player of the Year honors.
Clark played professionally overseas from 2016-19, spending time in Europe, Africa, Finland, Ireland, the Republic of Georgia, Luxembourg, and Morocco, earning All-Finnish 1
st Division-A Honorable Mention (2016-17), Ireland Division I Player of the Month (2017-18), Ireland Division I President’s Cup MVP (2017-18), and Ireland Division I President’s Cup Champion (2017-18).
Clark played collegiately at Southwestern College (2012-16) where he was a four-time NAIA All-American, a four-time First Team All-Conference honoree, and is the program’s all-time leading scorer (2,450 points) and rebounder (1,131 rebounds). He is the only player in program history to surpass 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Clark is currently a two-time Southwestern alum, as he earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 2015 and Master of Education in School Leadership in 2017. He is working toward a Doctorate of Education at Southwestern as well.
