Joe Collins

Joe Collins joins UTPA after six years at the University of North Florida (UNF). As the Director of Strength and Conditioning, Collins oversaw 16 athletic teams that competed in the Atlantic Sun Conference. While at UNF, he developed year-round, sport specific strength and conditioning programs, and introduced nutritional programs for each of the men’s and women’s teams. Collins also designed and oversaw the construction of a 3,500 sq. ft. state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility.

Prior to UNF, Collins spent two seasons in the Kansas City Royals system as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Wilmington Blue Rocks. He also spent one season as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Milwaukee Brewers’ Huntsville Stars.

Before making the move to baseball, Collins was the Head Strength Coach for Men’s Basketball, Men’s Olympic Sports and was an Assistant Strength Coach for Football at the University of Pittsburgh from 1998-2000.

Collins earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Cincinnati in 1994.
