Lauren Mathewson

Lauren Mathewson joined the Broncs as an assistant coach on March 17, 2014.
 
Mathewson came to the Broncs after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Truman State University from 2011-12, while also working as an assistant coach with the Mid-America Volleyball Club 15-1 Team.
 
In 2012, Mathewson helped lead Truman State to a 27-7 record, a 3-1 road win over top-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, and a berth in the NCAA Division II Central Regional. During her first season, the Bulldogs went 20-14, including a 3-2 win over No. 22 Emporia State. Her responsibilities included working with liberos and outside hitters on attacking, serve-receive and the team defensive system. She also helped develop a student-athlete leadership development program and handled the team’s marketing and social media.
 
Her responsibilities at UTPA include working with the Broncs liberos and outside hitters, recruiting, and organizing summer youth camps.
 
Mathewson played for Kansas State from 2007-10 and holds three program records, including digs in a match (41), digs in a season by a sophomore (505), and sets played by a freshman (119). She also ranks second in career digs (1,755), 20-dig matches (25), 30-dig matches (three) and sets played (464), third in digs in a season (540 in 2010), 20-dig matches in a season (10 in 2010) and digs in a five-set postseason match (18), fourth in 20-dig matches in a season (eight in 2008), fifth in digs in a season (514 in 2009) and digs in a four-set match (30), sixth in digs in a season (505 in 2008), eighth in 20-dig matches in a season (seven in 2009) and digs in a five-set match (30), and 12th in digs in a five-set postseason match (12).
 
Mathewson earned Academic All-Big 12 honors in each of her last three seasons and Academic All-District honors as a senior. She was also a two-time Big 12 Player of the Week.
 
During her time there, Kansas State reached two NCAA Tournaments, advancing to the second round in 2007.
 
Mathewson was also involved in the team’s leadership council as a junior and a senior as well as the student-athlete advisory committee.
 
Mathewson graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. She earned her Master’s Degree in Leadership and Sports Administration at Truman State in 2013.
