2005 [Junior Season]
Lyons spent her junior campaign splitting action as the Lady Broncs[apos] setter and libero... broke the program record with a 79-assist performance against Texas-Arlington (Sept. 10), surpassing the old mark of 78 set by Lorena Lopez in 2000... ranked second on the squad with 447 assists, averaging 4.76 assists per game... ranked 10th among all NCAA Division I Independent players in assists and assists per game... posted 10 matches of 20 or more assists while dishing out 30 or more assists on eight occasions... collected 40 or more assists on five occasions and 50 or more assists three times... recorded 53 assists and 15 digs against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Sept. 27)... dished out 53 assists to go along with five kills, five digs and three blocks against Lamar (Aug. 27)... notched 43 assists and 12 digs against Tulsa (Sept. 3)... recorded 10 or more digs on 10 occasions, including a season-high 16 digs against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Oct. 11)... added 15 digs and four service aces in the home finale against Utah Valley State (Oct. 28)... notched four services aces against Prairie View A&M (Oct. 21)... ranked fifth on the team in digs and digs per game and sixth in service aces... posted four double-doubles on the season... named to the Academic All-Independent team... was a Dean[apos]s List Second Honors recipient... selected to the Bronc Pride 3.0 Club... nominated for the Coca-Cola Community All-American Award and What-a-Burger [quote]Off the Field Hero[quote] Honor for her services in the community.
2004 [Sophomore Season]
Lyons took over the full-time position at setter in the fifth match of the season and rallied off the fourth best single-season mark in program history... dished out 856 assists by the end of the season... totaled with her first season has 1,516 career assists, which ranks her second in the all-time assists category... collected 22 matches of 20 or more assists, including final eight matches of the season... notched one of her best all-around games of her career against Utah Valley State (Oct. 16) where she collecting 58 assists, 23 digs and five kills... finished the season with 10 double-doubles (assists-digs)... surpassed career-highs in five statistical categories... averaged 36.5 assists per match at the 2004 Independent National Championships in Orem, UT... registered 51 assists and 10 digs against North Dakota State (Nov. 11) in the Lady Broncs[apos] first game at the Independent National Championships... rallied off seven matches of 40 or more assists, including a 48-assist performance at the UTPA Fieldhouse against Texas A&M-International (Oct. 30)... collected 46 assists, 16 digs and a career-high nine kills against Northern Colorado (Oct. 15)... finished with a hitting percentage of .562 (9-0-16) in that contest against the Bears... dished out 47 assists versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Oct. 6) and 43 assists at Utah Valley State (Nov. 11)... totaled 10 double-digit matches in the digs category... recorded double-digit assists in all, but two matches that she started during her sophomore campaign... notched 42 assists and 16 digs at home versus UT-San Antonio (Oct. 27)... earned Dean[apos]s List second honors during the fall 2004 semester... garnered Bronc Pride 3.0 Club honors.
2003 [Freshman Season]
In the ninth match of the season, Lyons made the switch from libero to setter and found a home as she notched 37 assists in her first start against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Sept. 13)... ended the season first on the team in assists... broke into UTPA[apos]s top ten career assists record with 656... notched the second highest assists total for a freshman in program history and ninth highest single-season total... recorded eight matches of 30 or more assists, including 62 assists versus Connecticut (Oct. 18), which was the sixth highest single-game mark... had 19 matches of 20-plus assists, including a string of 10 consecutive matches... recorded 46 assists against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Oct. 25)... followed with a 40-assist performance versus UTEP (Oct. 31)... collected seven double-doubles (assists-digs) during the year... added a season-high 19 digs against Texas-San Antonio (Oct. 15) and reached double-digits in digs eight times... finished fourth in digs and service aces for the Lady Broncs.
High School
Lyons is another Rio Grande Valley high school all-star where she was a first team all-district team member during her senior campaign... garnered Rio Grande Valley and Area Defensive Player of the Year that season... named the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in District 32-5A... cited as an all-tournament team member at the Mission Tournament... played for the Valley Elite Juniors club team under former UTPA student-athlete and coach Christine Phillips... proved to be a catalyst for the Valley Elite Juniors in capturing titles at the Asics Class VI Tournament and the Los Chance Tournament.
Off the Court
Lyons is the daughter of Danilo and Angelica Lyons... born on Sept. 2, 1985... has two brothers, Ken and Dennis, and a sister, Chelsea... majoring in psychology.
