EDINBURG - Boosted by a 1-1 tie on the road, the Pan American University soccer team comes home against Schreiner College of Kerrville at 2 p.m. Thursday.
The Broncs have played five games, all decided by one goal or tied. They are still looking for their first victory. They have a hard-luck 0-4-1 record.
They tied Austin College, 1-1 in overtime, Saturday in Sherman. This game was stopped by the referee in overtime due to an electrical storm, after the second half was played in the rain. Then the Broncs lost at strong North Texas, 2-1, Sunday.
Tony Fink scored Pan American's goal at Austin College on an assist by
Salvador Garcia. Then in Denton, Garcia scored on Fink's assist.
"
Reveriano Hernandez played an excellent game at North Texas," said Eloy Moran, Bronc Coach. "I put him as a personal marker on their star player, and Reveriano was relentless. I personally thought that was our best game so far this season, considering the caliber of team we were playing, and playing on artificial turf.
"
Fredy Sanguinetti, our goalie, as usual played extremely well," Moran said. "In Sherman there was a chemical plant nearby and there was some chemical in the air that was getting to everybody, including myself, until it rained. then the referee stopped it because there was too much thunder and lightning."
The Broncs added the home game against Schreiner to their original schedule. The Broncs don't play against this week, after Thursday.
