Bronc Soccer Team Beats West Texas State 2-1

AMARILLO - Freshman Alector Cardenas of McAllen booted a goal and an assist that enabled the University of Texas-Pan American to post its 10th soccer victory Friday night over West Texas State, 2-1.

Senior Ronny Cabrera from Bolivia scored the first Bronc goal on Cardenas' assist. Cardenas got the tie-breaking goal on a rebound off a defensive player from about 25 yards out with 13:45 gone in the second half.

Brandon Tucker had tied it, 1-1, for the Buffaloes with 11:35 gone in the second half.

Cabrera had scored with 9:02 gone in the second half. All three goals scored within five minutes.

The Broncs improved to a 10-2 record. They go on to play at Trinity in San Antonio at 1 p.m. Sunday to end this road trip. WTSU dropped to 6-5-1.

Goalie Fredy Sanguinetti made three saves for UT Pan American.
