UTPA Broncs Battle Trinity to Scoreless Tie in Double OT

SAN ANTONIO - Goalie Fredy Sanguinetti made 12 saves to carry the University of Texas-Pan American to a scoreless tie, 0-0 in double overtime, Sunday afternoon at Trinity University.

Two of the state's best college soccer teams--Trinity is ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division III's South Central Regional--fought it out in a defensive duel before 200 spectators.

Goalie Evan Moser of Trinity had seven saves. The Tigers' record dropped to 11-5-1 and the UT Pan American Broncs stand 10-2-1.

Ronny Cabrera, Bronc forward from Bolivia, had to be helped off the field with a leg injury.

Both teams kept threatening but the goalies stifled each threat.

UT Pan American next plays at Centenary college in Shreveport, La., on Sunday, Nov. 3. Then the Broncs take the best record in the Sun Belt Conference to the Conference Championship in Mobile, Ala., Nov. 8-10.
