MOBILE, Ala. - Western Kentucky handed luckless, winless Texas-Pan American its ninth soccer defeat in a hotly fought battle Saturday, 3-1.
WKU's Hilltoppers scored on Tom Morgan's goal in the 13th minute and
Mario Ribera of UTPA equalized by scoring on a free kick in the 39th minute. It stayed 1-1 at halftime.
Alois Bunjira of WKU then scored twice, breaking the tie with a penalty kick in the 58th minute when RIbera was ejected with a red-card fourl. Bunjira scored the clincher in the 72nd minute.
Tony Hesler of WKU was red-carded in the 74th minute as WKU made 21 total fouls, UTPA 18.
WKU improved to 5-7 with its second straight win at the Sun Belt Conference Mini-Tournament. UTPA ends its three-game participation here monday against Jacksonville.
