Soccer Broncs Scare WKU Before Losing in Overtime, 2-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla - Throwing a scare into heavily favored Western Kentucky, the Texas-Pan American Broncs' soccer team took WKU into overtime Saturday before the Hilltoppers won, 2-1.

Hector Lopez set up UTPA's tying goal in the 79th minute by running into the penalty area and making a back-pass that Jesus Leon slammed home.

WKU stayed unbeaten in the Sun Belt Conference by scoring in the 111th minute on a goal by 6-foot-4 Mark Robson from Liverpool, England. Ryan Rodosky, 6-2 from Louisville, Ky., had given WKU its 1-0 halftime lead in the 32nd minute.

Goalie Albert Flores of UTPA made three saves in the defense-dominated struggle. UTPA plays South Alabama at 11 a.m. Sunday, Texas time, 12 noon in Jacksonville.
