Volleyball Suffers 3-0 Setback to North Dakota

The Lady Broncs (3-9, 1-1) had a turn of events in the Dakota's as they suffered a 3-0 setback to North Dakota (7-5, 2-0) this Saturday (Sept. 19) afternoon at the Sioux Center in Grand Forks, ND.

The Lady Broncs had a bit of a struggle keeping up with the Fighting Sioux as they were unable to hold on to their short held lead in the first set and were unable to hold a lead in the second and third set.

UTPA showed their competitive side as they tied the score twice to stay in contention in the first set but were unable to keep the momentum going.

The Lady Broncs recorded the most kills in the first set with 10 and added nine in the second and seven in the third set.

Junior Marci Logan finished the night with seven kills, five digs and one block with Kaitlin Vasquez adding six kills, five digs and one block as well.

Twenty-six of UTPA's kills were accredited to junior Rita Gonzalez with 14 assists, while Rebecca Toddy added 11 digs.

Three of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux finished with double-digit kills - Annika Smed (12), Amanda Polzin (10) and Devin Trefz (12). Of the 47 kills recorded by North Dakota, 34 of those were accredited to Megan Langseth.

The Lady Broncs continue their conference trek as they play neutral matches in Houston, Texas at Houston Baptist against NJIT on Friday (Sept. 25) and Chicago State on Saturday (Sept. 26).
