GRAND FORKS, North Dakota- The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) volleyball team will continue their Great West Conference schedule as they hit the road to face off against North Dakota for a 7:00 p.m. match at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center on Thursday.
The Broncs are coming off of a 3-0 loss at the hands of the New Mexico Lobos that snapped their two-match win streak. Each set was close early on but the Lobos grabbed control late and completed the sweep of the Broncs.
Juri Franzen paced the defense with 16 digs.
Ashten Landry posted eight digs and five kills.
Diara Reynolds recorded a team-high seven kills and
Shauna Miller had 23 assists.
On the season,
Ijanae Holman continues to lead the team with 2.38 kills per set despite missing the last three matches due to an illness.
Shauna Miller has a total of 557 assists on the season, which is good for 7.23 assists per set.
Juri Franzen leads the defense with 4.07 digs per set while leading the team with 23 service aces.
The Fighting Sioux are coming off of a 3-1 victory against NJIT on Oct. 22
nd. North Dakota is led offensively by Devin Trefz who averages 2.95 kills per set and has a team-high 31 service aces. Annika Smed also chips in 2.41 kills per set while averaging 3.03 digs per set. Defensively, Taylor Bohannon leads the way with 3.66 digs per set.
North Dakota won the Oct. 15
th match with the Broncs with a 3-0 decision at the UTPA Fieldhouse. UTPA is looking for their first win against North Dakota, as they are 0-6 all-time.
