MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO SIXTH RANKED AGGIES

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to the sixth-ranked Aggies of Texas A&M University Wednesday afternoon at George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.

The Broncs avoided the six-flight singles sweep with Victor Alves victory over Beau Blackshear 6-4, 5-7, 13-11 in a grueling marathon.

UTPA's top singles player Ashwin Vijayaragavan fell in the top flight to TAMU's John Lewis 6-3, 6-3. Beau Bernsteain had his three-match win streak come to an end in a hard fought fefeat to Junior Ore 7-5, 3-6, 13-11.

Alves also earned a victory in doubles action, teaming with Ricardo Hopker in a victory over Daniel Brown and Blackshear. The Broncs lost the doubles point 2-1.

The Broncs return to action on Saturday morning as they compete in their final Southland Conference match-up of the season as they host UT-San Antonio. The match begins at 10:00 AM at the Cox Tennis Center in Edinburg.
