EDINBURG, Texas -- The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team (6-16, 1-1 GWC) returns home to face the Houston Baptist University Huskies (6-12, 0-2 GWC) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2012, which is getting inducted at 11:00 a.m. at the UTPA Ballroom, will be honored at halftime.

UTPA vs. Houston Baptist: This Broncs are 11-8 all-time against the Huskies in a series that dates back to 1972 … The Broncs won the last meeting, 76-60 at the UTPA Fieldhouse (2/9/11) … Aaron Urbanus led all scorers with 25 points while hitting six three-pointers and Brandon Provost scored a career-high 23 points while hitting five three-pointers … The Broncs were 12-for-23 (52.2%) from behind the arc … In two career games, Provost is averaging 22.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.0 steals … In four games, Urbanus is averaged 13.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals and Jared Maree is averaging 13.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals.
 
NJIT 58, UTPA 57 (1/26/12):

• Aaron Urbanus scored a season-high 17 points on a season-high five three-pointers to go with a team-high five rebounds.
• Josh Cleveland reached double-figures scoring for the first time since November 22, scoring 13 points, his second-highest total of the season, in a career-high 31 minutes.
• Josh Sanchez played a career-high nine minutes.
• The Broncs used an 11-1 run to take the lead with 28 seconds left, but Chris Flores hit a lay-up with four seconds remaining and Jesus Delgado missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.
• The Broncs were playing short-handed due to one-game suspensions for senior guards Kieondre Arkwright and Nick Weiermiller, junior forwards Ruben Cabrera and Earl Jefferson, and junior guard Neo Sanchez for violating team rules.

Team Notes

TCU 88, UTPA 58 (1/11/12):

• Brandon Provost led the team in scoring for the eighth time this season, scoring 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 from behind the arc. He also led the Broncs with eight rebounds.
• Aaron Urbanus tied for the game-high and his season-high with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting. He also had a team-high four assists.
• The Broncs outshot the Horned Frogs from behind the arc, 50% (9-18) to 42.9% (6-14).

 
The Eyes of a Falcon: Junior guard Brandon Provost celebrated his return to Clune Arena, home of the Air Force Falcons, by getting big eyes from behind the arc, hitting 5-of-6 shots while leading all scorers with 17 points. Provost played in 18 games (three starts) for Air Force as a freshman during the 2008-09 season.
 
Passing the Torch: Red-shirt senior guard and starting point guard Nick Weiermiller dished out a game-high six assists at Air Force and, in the process, moved past former-teammate Paul Stoll (373, 2006-08) for sixth place on the career assists list in UTPA history. Stoll was a senior and the starting point guard when Weiermiller was a freshman. Weiermiller now has 376 career assists.
 
Air Force 67, UTPA 50 (1/9/12):

• Brandon Provost led the team in scoring for the seventh time this season, scoring a game-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including 5-of-6 from behind the arc.
• The Broncs held the lead for 18:52 (94.3%) of the first half and 19:24 total (48.5% of the game).
• The Broncs outshot the Falcons from behind the arc, 42.1% (8-19) to 31.3% (5-16).

 
CSU Bakersfield 72, UTPA 57 (1/7/12):

• Brandon Provost led the team in scoring for the sixth time this season, scoring a game-high 17 points.
• Jared Maree reached double-figures for the second-straight game, scoring 12 points.
• Nick Weiermiller had his best shooting night of the season, hitting 3-of-5 shots from behind the arc while finishing with nine points.
• The Broncs had their second best three-point shooting night of the season at .476 while hitting 10 three-pointers, tied for their second-most this season.

 
When the Going Gets Tough: When the first RPI of the season came out on January 3, the Broncs had played the 92^nd toughest schedule among the 344 Division I men's basketball teams in the nation with opponents boasting an average RPI of 152. The Broncs have faced three teams in the top 50 in RPI in Ohio State (9), Northwestern (33) and Lamar (44).
 
UTPA 59, #20 Oswego State 54 (1/3/12):

• The win snapped a four-game losing streak.
• Jared Maree reached double-figures in scoring for the first time since December 21, finishing with 10 points.
• Nick Weiermiller dished out a game-high five assists to break a tie for seventh place on UTPA's all-time list (367) and move to within six assists of former-teammate Paul Stoll (373, 2006-08).
• Oswego State entered the game ranked 20^th in Division III.

 
Tulane 53, UTPA 42 (12/29/11):

• Enique Mason tied his career-high with seven rebounds (three offensive) and picked up his first block of the season while scoring seven points on 3-of-6 shooting in a season-high 16 minutes of action.
• Brandon Provost led the Broncs in scoring for the fifth time this season, finishing with 11 points.
• Nick Weiermiller played 21 minutes and dished out two assists to move up into fourth all-time in minutes played and a tie for seventh in assists.
• The Broncs led 7-5 after 6:40 and were within 21-19 at halftime.

 
UT-Arlington 83, UTPA 56 (12/29/11):

• Brandon Provost scored a season-high 20 points while hitting a career-high 10 free throws.
• Neo Sanchez played his first career minute at the end of the game.
• The Broncs were within 17-16 mid-way through the first half.

 
St. John's 66, UTPA 61 (12/21/11):

• The Broncs trailed by as many as 10 in the first half, but used a 17-2 run over the final 10:12 to take a 32-24 lead.
• The Broncs scored the final 10 points of the first half over a span of 6:12.
• The Broncs held the Red Storm without a field goal for the final 10:31 of the first half.
• The Broncs went up by 12, their largest road lead of the season, with 14:34 left in the game when the score was 44-32.
• The Broncs took their second lead with 5:21 left in the first half and held it until there was 6:40 left in the second half. The Broncs went ahead again with 4:13 remaining, and led until the final 36 seconds. In total, the Broncs led for 22:53 (57.2% of the game), were tied for 2:06 (5.3% of the game) and trailed for 15:01 (37.5% of the game).
• The Broncs hit a season-high 10 three-pointer on 24 attempts. At 41.7%, it was their second-highest three-point shooting percentage of the season.
• New York-native and red-shirt senior guard Nick Weiermiller dished out a game-high and season-high nine assists.
• Brandon Provost played a career-high 38 minutes and tied his season-high with five field goals made while scoring 13 points.
• Earl Jefferson hit his first-career three-pointer and recorded his second block. His first block was also against a Big East opponent, DePaul (11/11/11).

 
Army 61, UTPA 59 (12/18/11):

• The Broncs closed the game on a 15-2 run, scoring the final 11 points of the game over a span of 5:12.
• Jared Maree scored a team-high 20 points.
• Jesus Delgado scored a career-high 10 points and hit a career-high four free throws. He also tied his career-highs with four free throws attempted and three field goals made.
• Brandon Provost recorded a season-high five steals after totaling six steals in the first 12 games.

 
New York New York: The trip to play Army and St. John's represented a homecoming of sorts for red-shirt senior guard Nick Weiermiller. Army is located in West Point, New York, about 200 miles from Weiermiller's home town of Elmira. St. John's, is located in Queens, about 250 miles from Elmira.
 
UTPA 65, Wentworth Institute of Technology 48 (12/15/11):

• Jared Maree scored 10 of his game-high 16 points during a 15-4 run to close the first half that saw the Broncs go up 40-24.
• Julio Oyervides recorded his first-career blocked shot.
• The Broncs are winners of two-straight for the first time this season.

 
UTPA 77, Texas A&M International 61 (12/10/11):

• Jared Maree hit all three of his three-pointers during a 16-2 first half run that saw the Broncs build a 25-11 lead. Maree scored 15 of his season-high and game-high 22 points in the first half.
• Aaron Urbanus tied his season-high with 14 points, including a 3-for-5 performance from behind the arc.
• Nick Weiermiller played 31 minutes to move into sixth place on the all-time list at UTPA. He needs to play 121 more minutes to catch Kevin Johnson (2,835, 1984-88) for fifth place.
• The Broncs hit 61.5% (8-for-13) of their shots from behind the arc, their highest shooting percentage of the season.

 
Lamar 60, UTPA 49 (12/5/11):

• The Broncs had at least three players in double-figures scoring for the third time this season as Jared Maree scored 13 points while Brandon Provost and Nick Weiermiller each finished with 10.
• The Broncs jumped out to a 4-0 lead and led 6-4 in the opening minutes.

 
#2 Ohio State 64, UTPA 35 (12/3/11):

• The Broncs held the Buckeyes to their fewest points in a game (64) and their lowest shooting percentage (39.7%) this season.
• The Broncs also held the Buckeyes to their fewest points in the first 10 minutes (11) first 15 minutes (22), first 20 minutes (31), first 25 minutes (37), first 30 minutes (49) and first 35 minutes (55) of a game this season.
• Jared Maree led all scorers with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, which is two more points and one more made field goal than any Ohio State player had.
• Nick Weiermiller had a game-high five assists.
• The attendance was 14,041, the largest crowd the Broncs have played in front of this season.

 
UT-Arlington 92, UTPA 60 (11/28/11):

• Aaron Urbanus scored a season-high 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including a season-best 4-for-8 performance from behind the arc.
• Ruben Cabrera scored a season-high 14 points.
• Kieondre Arkwright scored a season-high 11 points.
• Nick Weiermiller played 29 minutes to move into sixth place on the all-time UTPA men's basketball list with 2,629 minutes played, passing Eric Montalvo (2,625 minutes, 2001-05) and John Braxton (2,612 minutes, 1998-2001). Weiermiller needs to play 68 more minutes to pass Melvin Thomas (1988-90) for fifth place.

 
USC-Upstate 78, UTPA 63 (11/25/11):

• Red-shirt senior guard Nick Weiermiller moved up in the UTPA record books in three-pointers made and attempted. Weiermiller hit two three-pointers to break a tie for ninth place with Ray Castillo (2003-05) and Sergio Sanchez (2003-05), who hit 118 each, and attempted three to pass Kevin Mitchell (2001-03), who attempted 351, for sixth place all-time. Weiermiller is now 120-for-352 (.341) all-time from behind the arc.
• Trailing 16-4 early, the Broncs went on a 9-0 run to pull within three. Brandon Provost scored five points during the run. He finished with 18 points.
• Jared Maree tied for the game-high with 20 points, on 8-of-14 shooting, marking the sixth time he has led the Broncs in scoring this season.

 
On the Road Again: The Broncs recently completed their second longest stretch of road games of the season, playing four between November 25 and December 5. Their only longer stretch is when they play five-straight on the road in January.
 
That's Classic!: Junior guard Brandon Provost earned All-UTPA Tip-Off Classic honors after averaging 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He was either first or second on the team in scoring in all four games.
 
UTPA 83, Victory 64 (11/22/11):

• The Broncs opened the game on a 10-0 run and jumped out to a 19-5 lead in the opening six minutes.
• The Broncs led by as many as 28 points during the first half.
• Brandon Provost was second on the team in scoring with 13 points while clinching All-UTPA Tip-Off Classic honors.
• Freshman guard Josh Sanchez played during the final minutes of the second half, scoring his first career points on a baseline floater.
• Jared Maree scored a team-high 14 points, marking the fifth time he has led the Broncs in scoring this season.

 
Toledo 64, UTPA 54 (11/20/11):

• The Broncs out-rebounded the Rockets 46-to-31, including 21-to-9 on the offensive glass.
• Jared Maree recorded a game-high eight rebounds, including four offensive.
• Brandon Provost hit three three-pointers while leading the team in scoring with 15 points.
• Earl Jefferson returned to the starting lineup after not playing the previous game, scoring seven points with five rebounds (three offensive). Jefferson also started the first three games of the season.
• The Broncs outscored the Rockets 31-28 in the second half.

UTPA 79, Texas State 77 (11/19/11):
-The Broncs picked up their first win of the season, avenging last year's 76-63 home loss.
-The Broncs went on multiple runs, including those of 14-6, 10-2, 12-2, 9-0 and 7-0.

• Jared Maree, who hit the final free throw of the game, scored a game-high 21 points while Brandon Provost, who hit two free throws 17.3 seconds earlier to give the Broncs the lead for good, finished with 20 points.
• Playing in front of his father, Nick Weiermiller hit a pair of three-pointers to pass Mire Chatman and move to within two three-pointers of the Top 5 list in UTPA history.
• Josh Cleveland scored a season-high 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 shooting from the foul line. All three of Cleveland's first half baskets gave the Broncs a nine-point lead.
• Jesus Delgado made his first start of the season.

 
USC-Upstate 70, UTPA 66 (11/18/11):

• After trailing by 14 points mid-way through the first half, the Broncs went on an 18-3 run to take a 61-60 lead before falling to USC-Upstate 70-66 in the opening game of the UTPA Tip-Off Classic.
• The Broncs outshot the Spartans 54.5%-to-52.9% in the first half, but got outscored 38-32. In the second half, the Broncs were outshot 44%-to-37%, but outscored the Spartans 34-32.
• The Broncs recorded twice as many assists as the Spartans (14-to-7).
• The Broncs performed well from behind the arc, hitting 7-of-19 shots while holding the Spartans to 2-of-16 shooting.
• After missing the first game and playing six scoreless minutes in the second game, Aaron Urbanus returned to the court and hit 2-of-3 shots, including a three-pointer, for five points in 11 minutes of action.
• Brandon Provost hit eight of the Broncs' 15 free throws while scoring 13 points.
• Jared Maree and Nick Weiermiller each hit a game-high two three pointers. Maree had a game-high 17 points.

 
Let's Get Busy: The Broncs played games on three consecutive days and four out of five during the UTPA Tip-Off Classic. The only other time this season the Broncs could have a similar stretch is by playing on three consecutive days during the Great West Conference Tournament in March.
 
Home Sweet Home: The UTPA Tip-Off Classic marked the first four of 15 regular season home games this season. The Broncs hosted ten games last season, picking up five of their six wins at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
 
Marks the Spot: Ryan Marks is now in his third season as the UTPA head coach. Marks is the 13th head coach in UTPA History. Former UTPA head coaches include Sam Williams, (led Pan American College to 1963 NAIA National Championship), Lon Kruger (current Oklahoma head coach & ex-Atlanta Hawks coach) and Abe Lemons (former Texas head coach).
 
Welcome to the Fieldhouse: Built in 1969, the UTPA Fieldhouse has hosted numerous events including men's and women's basketball and volleyball contests, graduation and professional sports exhibitions. In the summer of 2010. the Fieldhouse received a facelift as the original wooden bleachers were replaced and a new state-of-the-art floor was installed.
 
Sam Williams Court: The floor at the UTPA Fieldhouse is named after legendary UTPA Head Coach Sam Williams, the program's all-time leader in victories with 244. He led the Broncs to an NAIA National Championship in 1963, the program's lone National Championship. The floor was re-dedicated last season with Coach Williams in attendance.
