GRAND FORKS, North Dakota -- The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team (11-18, 5-3 Great West Conference) can clinch the #2 seed in the Great West Conference Tournament with a win over the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux (13-14, 4-4 GWC) tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Betty Englestad Sioux Center.

The game will be televised live nationally on Fox College Sports Central, which is located on channel 307 on Time Warner Cable in the Rio Grande Valley and channel 617 on DirecTV.

What You Need to Know

First Round Bye At Stake: If the Broncs win tonight's game, they will assure themselves of a second place finish in the Great West Conference standings and clinch a berth in the semifinals. The #4 and #5 seeds will play in the first round, with the winner of that facing the #1 seed while the #2 and #3 seeds also face each other in the semifinals.

UTPA vs. North Dakota: This is the ninth meeting all-time between the Broncs and North Dakota in a series that dates back to 1967, when Sam Williams was the head coach of the Broncs … The Broncs have three wins in that time, including 70-58 at the UTPA Fieldhouse earlier this season (2/4) … In that game, the Broncs shot 50.9% from the field … In six career games, Aaron Urbanus is averaging 14.0 points and 3.2 assists and Jared Maree is averaging 11.2 points and 4.2 rebounds.

  • The Broncs outshot the Wolverines from the floor (45.3%-to-43.6%) and made two more three-pointers, but the Wolverines were 21-for-32 (65.6%) from the free throw line while the Broncs were 9-for-14 (64.3%).
  • Nick Weiermiller hit two three-pointers to break a four-way tie for fifth place in program history in all-time three-pointers made.
