EDINBURG – Playing their second match of the day, the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team beat the St. Mary's University Rattlers, the No. 48 ranked team in Division II, 5-2 on Friday at the newly renovated Orville Cox Tennis Center in a match lasting just over five and a half hours.
 
The Broncs (3-5) swept through doubles, with Ricardo Hopker and Chetan Panditi beating Brien Galon and Matt Banner 8-2 at No. 2 and Thomas-Orestis Panoulas and Victor Alves defeating Andrej Klipa and Mateo Martinez 8-2 at No. 3.
 
The Broncs made quick work of the Rattlers (3-4) at No. 3, No. 2 and No. 4 singles to clinch the match, as Hopker beat Jared Fellows 6-1, 6-2, Panditi defeated Zachary Nicholson 6-3, 6-1 and Alejandro Sanoja beat Banner 6-1, 6-2.
 
The Broncs are back in action on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when they host Schreiner.
