Box ScoreBAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's soccer team fell to the Bakersfield Roadrunners 4-2 on Friday at The Main Soccer Field.
Freshman
Andreya Barrera led the Broncs (8-6-4, 2-5-1 WAC) with a three-point night, notching a goal and an assist.
Hedda Regefalk led the Roadrunners (3-13-1, 2-5-0 WAC) with a hat trick, including a pair of game-tying goals.
Kelley Mitchell chipped in with three assists.
The Broncs opened up the scoring early on, as, off an indirect free kick, freshman
Hanna Spets found Barrera for her team-leading eight goal of the season to make it 1-0 at 12:09.
The Roadrunners struck back nine minutes later when Regefalk scored off a feed from Mitchell at 21:25.
Freshman
Allyson Smith responded by scoring her third goal of the season on a pass from Barrera at 31:56 to give the Broncs a 2-1 lead.
That was it against
Tori Ornela (3-12-1), who made eight saves.
The Roadrunners tied the match 56 seconds later when, on a three-on-one,
Jess Moorehead found Regefalk for her second goal of the match.
Four and a half minutes after that,
Maja Green scored on passes from Mitchell and
Taylor French to put the Roadrunners up 3-2.
That was it until the middle of the second half, when Regefalk completed the hat trick on assists from Mitchell and
Haley Hatfield.
Freshman
Aubrie Coley (5-5-4) finished with eight saves.
The Broncs were outshot 18-12, including 13-10 on goal. They were out-cornered 9-1.
The Broncs are back in action on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Grand Canyon. The Broncs can clinch a spot in the WAC Tournament with a win or a Chicago State (0-6-1) loss at Bakersfield.
