Box ScorePITTSBURGH, Pa. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team fell to the Duquesne University Dukes 78-72 on Tuesday night at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
Sophomore Jonari Joesaar led all scorers with 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds while dishing out four assists. Junior
Shaquille Hines added 20 points and four rebounds.
Micah Mason paced the Dukes (5-6), who had six players in double figures, with 14 points and three rebounds. TySean Powell added 13 points and Dominique McKoy added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Broncs (5-8) got their first lead of the game after senior

Moe McDonald knocked down a pair of three-pointers giving them the 9-4 lead with 17:04 left in the first half. Later in the first half, junior
Isaiah Hobbs made it 17-12 with a layup. After a three-pointer by Derrick Colter that gave the Dukes the 19-17 lead, Hines converted a three-point play with 8:01 left in the half that gave the Broncs the 20-19 lead.
The Broncs and the Dukes went back and forth before the Dukes grabbed the 30-25 lead after a jumper by Jordan Stevens. Joesaar recorded three of his 11 first half points after hitting a three-pointer with 2:35 left in the half that got the Broncs within three at 35-32 but the Dukes took a 41-34 lead into half time.
A pair of free throws by McDonald opened the scoring for the Broncs in the second half and then a three-pointer by Joesaar made it 44-39 in favor of the Dukes. Later in the second half, a jumper by Powell pushed the Dukes' lead to 55-45 with 11:49 left in the game.
The Broncs got within five as freshman
Dan Kimasa made a layup to make it 60-55 with 8:02 to play. The Dukes pushed their lead to 11 points after a jumper by Stevens that made it 66-55 with 5:56 left to play. The Broncs answered with a 10-2 run that was capped by a Hines jumper that made it 68-65 with 1:49 to play but the Dukes made their free throws late to put the game away.
The Broncs are back in action on Friday when they visit Kent State at 7 p.m.
