Three postseason teams will visit the Valley during UTRGV's non-conference contests, including Prairie View A&M's men's team which won a First Four game in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, and North Dakota State and Abilene Christian – a pair of women's teams ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 throughout the 2025-26 season. The Vaqueros are set for several competitive Southland Conference battles. There will be six Saturdays that bring women's and men's doubleheader action to the UTRGV Fieldhouse.

UTRGV's basketball teams had the best combined seasons in school history in 2025-26. The women's basketball team is coming off the winningest season in program history which saw the Vaqueros earn the first postseason road victory in program history as they reached the second round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament. The men's team won a program-record 14 conference games and recorded back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1988-90.
