EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team snapped a seven-match losing streak with a 4-0 win over the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos on Sunday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
The Broncs (3-9) jumped out to the early lead with a pair of doubles victories.
Mauricio Fosado and
Juan Cruz Soria defeated the Kangaroos' (3-9) team of Andrey Smirnov and Daniel De Zamacona 8-4 at doubles No. 3.
Alejandro Sanoja and
Sebastien Job then clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 victory over Vinh Pham and Conner Edwards at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Job kept the momentum going for the Broncs with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Smirnov at No. 3 singles. Sanoja followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Edwards at No. 6 singles and then Soria clinched the match for the Broncs as he beat Mike Psarros 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
The rest of the singles matches went unfinished once the match was clinched.
The Broncs have some time off before they hit the road to face Nicholls State at 2 p.m. on March 14.
