Box ScoreHOUSTON – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's tennis team fell 0-6 to the Rice University Owls on Friday at the Downtown Club at the Met.
The doubles matches were not played after wet conditions forced the match to change venues from the George R. Brown Tennis Center to the Downtown Club.
The Owls (3-1) swept through the singles competition as freshman
Miguel Alvarez-Hevia fell to David Warren 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot. Freshman
Koby Jansen fell to Jamie Malik 6-0, 6-0 at the No.2 singles spot and junior
Hector Ramirez fell to Max Andrews 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot. Freshman
Elliot Johnstone fell in the No. 4 singles spot to Adam Gustafsson 6-2, 6-4 while freshman
Nikola Crvelin fell to Gustavo Gonzalez 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot.
At the No.1 singles spot, sophomore
Juan Cruz Soria took his match against Srikar Alla to three sets. Soria opened the match with a 6-4 win in the first set and then dropped the second set 4-6. Alla went on to win the tiebreaker 10-6 to win the match.
The Broncs continue their road trip when they face the Prairie View University Panthers on Saturday at 2 p.m.
