HUNTSVILLE – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team picked up their second straight victory after defeating the Sam Houston State University Bearkats 4-3 on Sunday at the McAdams Tennis Center.
 
The Broncs' duo of freshman Dominique Esparza and sophomore Mariana Ranzahuer defeated the team of Fabienne Gettwart and Bailey VanDyke 6-4 at the No. 3 doubles spot but the Bearkats (0-1) won at the No. 1 and 2 doubles spots to clinch point.
 
The Broncs (2-1) responded in singles competition. Sophomore Katia Stavroulaki beat Olivia Battye 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot to get the scoring started. Freshman Dominique Esparza recorded her first career victory by defeating Gettwart 6-0, 7-6 (3) at the No. 2 spot.
 
Ranzahuer continued the momentum for the Broncs as she defeated VanDyke 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot. Junior Reegan Greenwood gave the Broncs the match with a 2-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 victory over Mila Molanovic at the No. 4 spot. The Bearkats took the matches at the No. 5 and 6 spots to close out the scoring.
 
The Broncs are back in action on January 30 when they travel to Waco to face off against the No. 9 Baylor University Bears.
