EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team fell 1-6 to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Thursday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
The Islanders (6-2) jumped ahead in doubles as they picked up the victory on court three but the Broncs (3-6) answered back on court one. The duo of Katia Stavroulaki and Reegan Greenwood pulled out the 8-4 win over Celia Rodriguez and Maider Martin to even doubles.
 
On court two, Christel Amsallem and Dominique Esparza held a 7-6 advantage but fell in the tiebreaker 7-5 giving the doubles point to the Islanders.
 
In singles, the Islanders won on court three, four, one and six to clinch the match. The Broncs then forced tiebreakers on courts five and two. On court five, Greenwood dropped her first set to Kerry Galhos 3-6 but bounced back with a 6-3 win in the second set forcing the tiebreaker as she went on to win 10-6. The Islanders won on court two to close out the match.
 
The Broncs are back in action tomorrow as they welcome the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals to the Orville Cox Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
