Box ScoreLAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team recorded its first Western Athletic Conference win of the season after defeating the Seattle U Redhawks 5-2 Saturday at the New Mexico State Tennis Center.
The Redhawks (5-13) looked like they would control the match as they came away with the doubles point after winning on courts one and two but the Broncs (7-8) responded in singles competition.
The Broncs came away with wins on five of the six courts to clinch the match.
Katia Stavroulaki defeated Michelle Lui 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
Reegan Greenwood extended her win streak to eight straight matches with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Madison Maloney at No. 3 singles.
Christel Amsallem gave the Broncs another point with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Barbara Carey at No. 4 singles.
Mariana Ranzahuer added a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Kristen James at No. 5 singles and
Natacha Minc defeated Audrey Scott 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
The Broncs next face the University of Texas-El Paso Miners on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the El Paso Tennis Club.
