BROWNSVILLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros won their second straight match as they defeated the St. Mary's University Rattlers 6-1 on Friday at the Brownsville Tennis Center.
 
The Vaqueros (5-5) took two out of three doubles matches to take the early lead. Juan Cruz Soria and Koby Jansen teamed up to defeated Adam Dockery and Brien Galon 6-3 on court one and it was Yehonatan Kaufman and Ethan Ammon who beat Felix Holloway and Aldo Maldonado 6-4 on court three to clinch the point.
 
In singles, Soria picked up a point for UTRGV after he defeated Michael Maciel 6-1, 6-0 on court one. Kaufman picked up a victory over Adam Dockery on court two as he won 6-1, 1-6, 10-7.
 
Jansen got his match started against Aldo Maldonado on court one with a 6-1 victory and then he shutout Maldonado in the second set 6-0. Elliot Johnstone recorded a victory over Luke Keller on court five as he won 6-3, 6-1 and Cosme Jubera wrapped up the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Felix Holloway on court six.
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Sunday when they host St. Edwards University at 3 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
