Men's Tennis Wraps Up Weekend Against Seattle U on Saturday

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's tennis team closes out the weekend as they face the Seattle University Redhawks on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the NMSU Tennis Center.
 
It will be the third conference match in three days after facing Grand Canyon on Thursday and New Mexico State on Friday.
 
Last Time Out
The Vaqueros (8-12) were swept at the hands of the New Mexico State Aggies.
 
Yehonatan Kaufman, Elliot Johstone and Cosme Jubera each took their singles match to three sets.
  
Scouting the Redhawks
The Redhawks are 8-12 and 0-2 in conference after falling 3-4 to Missouri-Kansas City on Friday.
 
Connor Leahy leads the Redhawks with a 13-4 record while playing in the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots. Tanner Berkabile and Michael Schoettler have each recorded eight singles victory for Seattle U.
 
Leahy and John Stormans have teamed up for 10 doubles wins while playing in the No. 2 spot. Ian Clare and Schoettler have posted seven wins while playing all of their matches at the No. 3 spot.
 
The All-Time Series
The Vaqueros are 3-0 all-time against the Redhawks in a series that dates back to 1980.
 
Both of these teams faced off last season and it was the Vaqueros who defeated the Redhawks 4-3 in Chicago State.
 
Globetrotters
The Vaqueros currently have eight student-athletes on the roster representing six different countries, including the Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Australia, Spain, Israel and Argentina.
 
Next Up
The Vaqueros will next travel to Kansas City to face Chicago State on April 8 in the second WAC cluster.
