DALLAS – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's tennis will face the Dallas Baptist Patriots on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Dallas Baptist Tennis Courts in the first of two matches this weekend.
Last Time OutThe Vaqueros (8-7, 3-2 WAC) defeated the Laredo Community College Palominos 6-1 on Senior Day.
Tara Donaho and
Dominique Ibarra started things off on the right foot with a doubles win on court three.
Reegan Greenwood and
Dominique Esparza clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win on court one but the team of
Doris Aleksovska and
Natacha Minc completed the sweep of doubles with a 7-5 win on court two.
In singles, the Vaqueros continued to roll with Aleksovska not dropping a game on court five with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Ibarra then won 6-0, 6-1 on court four to extend their lead with Minc clinching the match with a win on court three.
Greenwood moved into a tie for fourth place on the program's all-time career singles wins list with a win on court one.
Julia Perez closed out the match with a win on court six in her final career home match.
Scouting the PatriotsThe Patriots are 7-8 on the season and are coming off of a 1-8 loss to Cameron University.
They are currently riding a three-match losing streak after rattling off three straight wins over Metro State, Colorado Christian University and Colorado Mesa University.
The Patriots have recorded a win over Texas A&M-Kingsville who the Vaqueros defeated earlier this season.
The All-Time SeriesThis will be the first ever meeting between the Vaqueros and the Patriots.

Reegan Greenwood is currently tied for fourth in program history with 51 career singles wins. She is now tied with Mary Jane Meyer (1987-90) for fourth place. Ellen Nelissen (1991-95) tops the all-time list with 67 wins.
