COLLEGE STATION – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's tennis team closed out the weekend with a 0-6 loss to No. 25 Texas A&M University on Sunday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
Texas A&M (3-3) came out of the gates quickly and won on doubles courts one and three to clinch the first point of the match. UTRGV's (2-6) duo of
Koby Jansen and
Mateo Schmit were leading 5-4 in their against Aleksandre Bakshi and James Martell on court two but the match was stopped when the point was clinched.
In singles, Texas A&M did not drop a set as they won on courts one, six and two to clinch the win. They closed out the match with wins on courts five and three.
Freshman Clément Sarradin saw his match against Hady Habib on court four go unfinished. He fell 2-6 in the first set and was battling in the second before the match was stopped with the score tied at five games apiece.
UTRGV will next face the University of Southern Mississippi on February 18 in a neutral site match in Beaumont at 10 a.m.
