SEATTLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's tennis team had their three-match win streak snapped after falling 0-7 to Grand Canyon University on Saturday at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.
Grand Canyon (14-10, 3-1 WAC) got off to the early 1-0 lead as they swept through doubles. They followed with six wins on the singles courts to put the match away.
UTRGV (5-19, 2-2 WAC) had a pair of their matches go three sets as
Elliot Johnstone and Clément Sarradin went the distance in their matches.
Johnstone won his first set 7-5 against Lorenzo Fucile before falling 3-6 in the second set and 3-6 in the third. Sarradin also won his first set 7-5 against Adrian Legarreta on court four before falling 5-7 in the second set and 5-10 in the tiebreaker.
UTRGV will be back at it tomorrow when they close out conference play against New Mexico State at 2 p.m.
