EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley women's soccer team (3-0-0) faces Stetson (2-2-0) during day one of the second UTRGV Tournament on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff faces Lamar in the first match of the day at 4.
UTRGV Athletics is collecting supplies to be distributed in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.
The Food Bank RGV, which is working with H-E-B to handle collection and distribution, is encouraging the donation of:
•Bottled Water
•Peanut Butter
•Easy Open Tuna
•Potted Meat
•Vienna Sausages
•Paper Towels
•Toilet Paper
Fans donating at least five individual non-perishable food items will receive free admission.
Current UTRGV students, who already receive free admission, will receive Orange Out for Hunger Action Month T-shirts while supplies last.
All fans are encouraged to wear orange throughout the weekend to show support for disaster relief efforts.
Additionally, this week is the
Best Week Ever at UTRGV, and UTRGV Athletics is hosting Back to School Night in conjunction with the women's soccer match against Stetson at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex on Thursday at 7 p.m. following the STOMP.
UTRGV students are encouraged to check out the spirit stations that lead to the soccer complex to pick up their free UTRGV swag just in time for the match. Stations will begin outside the University Recreation Center (EUREC) and finish at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
Gates open at 3.
