HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team is set to face the University of Houston on Monday at 3 p.m. at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility in its second straight road match.
Last Time Out
UTRGV (6-6) fell 2-5 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday.
UTRGV fell behind in doubles as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi earned the doubles point. The team of
Doris Aleksovska and Dominque Esparza were the only doubles team to pick up a victory after defeating Jelena Dzinic and Carolina Bulatovic.
Anastasia Belyaeva to UTRGV on the board with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Bulatovic and
Dominique Esparza also added a win at the No. 1 spot after beating Hortense Boscher 7-6, 6-3.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won on courts six, three, two, and five to clinch the win.
Scouting Houston
Houston is 12-1 on the season after coming off of a 4-2 win against North Texas.
The only loss for Houston came on February 17 when it fell to Rice.
Houston will be facing Louisiana at 11 a.m. before face UTRGV in the afternoon.
Houston has four players in double-figures in singles victories with Sveva Mazzari leading the way with a 12-0 record. Lauren Alter has posted an 11-1 record while Tsveta Dimitrova has posted an 11-2 record while Constande Nicolaou has posted a 10-1 record.
Overall, Houston is 58-14 in singles play while posting a 22-6 doubles record.
The All-Time Series
UTRGV is 0-8 all-time against Houston in a series that dates back to 2002.
The last time these two teams faced off came back on February 24, 2013 when Houston came away with the 7-0 victory.

UTRGV currently has eight student-athletes on the roster representing seven different countries, including the Macedonia, Mexico, Russia, Spain, India, Germany and Denmark.

UTRGV will wrap up its road trip on Friday, when it stays in Houston to face Rice at 11 a.m.
