Men’s Tennis Hosts No. 4 Laredo Community College Tuesday in Final Home Match of the Season

EDINBURG– The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's tennis team is set for its final home match of the season when it hosts Laredo Community College, who is ranked fourth in the ITA Junior College rankings, at 1:30 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend. Senior Koby Jansen and Elliot Johnstone will be honored prior to the match.
 
Last Time Out
UTRGV (8-10, 0-2 WAC) dropped its second conference match of the season after falling 0-7 to Grand Canyon on Friday. 
 
Grand Canyon swept through doubles before doing the same in singles.
 
Dennis Boisseau was the only one to take a set as he won 6-3 in the first against Mathieu Rajanoah on court one. 
 
Back-to-Back Player of the Week
Yehonatan Kaufman was named the WAC Tennis Player of the Week after going 3-0 over the weekend. Kaufman picked up his fifth, sixth and seventh wins while helping UTRGV to a 3-0 weekend.
 
Kaufman made it back-to-back weeks that UTRGV earned the award after Koby Jansen earned the honor last week. 
 
Scouting Laredo Community College
Laredo Community College is coming off of a 2-5 loss to Incarnate Word back on March 22. 
 
LCC is ranked fourth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Junior College rankings. 
 
The All-Time Series
UTRGV is 28-6 all-time against Laredo Community College in a series that dates back to 1982.
 
Both teams met up last season and it was URTGV that came away with the 5-2 win at the Orville Cox Tennis Center. 
 
Globetrotters
UTRGV currently has nine student-athletes on the roster representing five different countries, including the France (Dennis Boisseau, Clément Sarradin), United States (Jake Davidson, Zane Kohrs, Michael Loyd), Australia (Koby Jansen, Elliot Johnstone), Israel (Yehonatan Kaufman), and Argentina (Mateo Schmit). 
 
Next Up
UTRGV will be back in action when it heads back on the road for the final WAC cluster of the season when they travel to Chicago to face Chicago State, UMKC, and Seattle U.
