Cross Country Set for 31st Annual Chile Pepper Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's and women's cross country teams take part in the 31stannual Chile Pepper Festival on Friday at the University of Arkansas Cross Country Course.
 
The men compete in the first heat of the 8K at 9 a.m. while the women compete in the first heat of the 5K at 10:40.
 
This is the same course on which UTRGV will compete during the NCAA South Central Regional Championships on Nov. 15.
 
The men are currently ranked 12th in the South Central Region and compete in a field that includes 31 teams, several of which are nationally ranked, including No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 25 Arkansas, and Texas, which is receiving votes.

UTRGV is off to a strong start this year, with three individual victories in four tries as sophomore Abraham Chirchir won both the UIW Opener and the Texas A&M Invitational while sophomore Dorcas Koech won the UIW Opener.
