Final Results

CORPUS CHRISTI – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's golf team finished in fifth place to close out the Islander Classic on Tuesday at Corpus Christi Country Club.
 
UTRGV closed out the tournament with a final round team score of 324 to finish with a three-round score of 943. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished in second place with a three-round score of 915 to take the three points in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union.
 
UTRGV still holds the lead in the showdown with 23.5 point to 15.5 points. 
 
Freshman and Brownsville Veterans alum Julie Lucio led the way for UTRGV as she finished in fourth place with a three-round score of 225 after carding a final round 79. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Autumn Bynum took home the individual title with a three-round score of 217 after a final round two-under 70.
 
Senior Emma Mesta finished tied for 12^thwith a three-round score of 231 after turning in a final round 82. Sophomore and Los Fresnos alum Briana Garza finished tied for 26^thafter carding a final round 79 for a three-round score of 242. 
 
Junior Vicky Gonzalez posted a final round 84 for a three-round score of 246 as she finished tied for 30^th. Senior and Sharyland alum Michelle Moroles finished tied for 36^thwith a three-round score of 250 after a final round 86 and junior Tilda Green, who was playing as an individual, finished one shot back of Moroles with a three-round score of 250 after a final round 87 to finish tied for 39^th.

UTRGV will be back in action from March 11-12 when it hosts the UTRGV Invitational, which will also be the next event in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, at McAllen Country Club.
