RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Southland Conference (SLC) announced on Thursday that The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf freshman Avery Glanzer was named SLC Women's Golfer of the Week.
This is Glanzer's first career SLC Women's Golfer of the Week award and UTRGV's first weekly honor this season.
Glanzer posted a career-best, even-par 213 at Oklahoma's PD Intercollegiate to finish in a tie for 11th. Glanzer finished ahead of student-athletes from BYU, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, among others.
Glanzer's 213 was the second-lowest individual 54-hole score in program history, while helping UTRGV post an 882, the fourth-lowest three-round team score in program history.
In the final round, Glanzer jumped seven spots after carding a two-under 69 with just one bogey across the final 18 holes. Her 69 tied for the fourth-lowest individual round in program history.
The Vaqueros will wrap up their fall season at the Diamante Invitational, hosted by Little Rock, from Oct. 18-20 at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Ark.
